Nice to meet you! We are the Tennessee Valley Fair - a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to showcasing East Tennessee heritage, agriculture and the arts for 100 years! We also know a little bit about having fun. The first Tennessee Valley Fair
began in 1916 and we've been in Chilhowee Park & Exposition Center since day 1. How did we get to Celebrating 100 Years in 2019 when we began in 1916? The Fair was cancelled during World War II (yes, we are that old!) so 2019 was our 100th Fair. Learn more about our history here
.What's our purpose?
We offer family-friendly entertainment to Knoxville and the surrounding area. Fairgoers enjoy numerous things to enjoy on our fairgrounds including, rides, live music, competitions, shows, food, actions sports, special events, and so much more! Not only are we a place to have fun but also a place to learn. Educating fairgoers about agriculture is important to us - after all, agriculture is what feeds us, clothes us, and helps us live. .The economic impact we have on our community is $11.4 million annually. A little friendly competition never hurt anyone, right? ;)
Competitions and contests are another great feature of the Fair. Thousands of community members enter and compete to earn their spot as a Tennessee Valley Fair Winner. Additionally, your grand masterpiece and/or skills can be showcased to every person who comes to our fairgrounds. Over $100,000 are given to competitors through premiums and scholarships with over $60,000 going to local youth (18 years and under). Student Art and Photography has been a main staple of competitions - did you know we've been hosting the Student Art Competition since 1974? Enter into one of the competitions
Cockadoodledoo - Jasper the Rooster
has been the Tennessee Valley Fair mascot since 1978 - we think he looks great for 41 years old though! He's been crowing for a while now so stop in and say hello and hear about his life story!
