Tennessee Valley Fair Now Accepting Applications For Dwight Kessel Leadership Scholarship KNOXVILLE, TENN. (March 5, 2024) – The Tennessee Valley Fair Foundation is now accepting applications for the Dwight Kessel Leadership Scholarship. The one-time $1,000 scholarship, now in its second year, will be awarded to an East Tennessee high school senior graduating in 2024. The scholarship was named after longtime Tennessee Valley Fair board member Dwight Kessel. Mr. Kessel passed away last June before the first scholarship was awarded. "Mr. Kessel's love of the Tennessee Valley Fair will be continued through this scholarship." said Kristen Bright, Tennessee Valley Fair Foundation Director. "He was a huge proponent of the Tennessee Valley Fair and Foundation. He strongly believed in our mission's commitment to our community through education. We will continue to honor him each year by granting this scholarship to a local youth." The Dwight Kessel Leadership Scholarship has been offered since 2023 thanks to the gracious contributions of many individuals and companies who support the Tennessee Valley Fair Foundation. The Tennessee Valley Fair Foundation was created in 2018. The mission of the Foundation is to preserve East Tennessee’s heritage by promoting agricultural awareness, supporting educational programs, and cultivating youth development. The Foundation generates funds for scholarships, teaches youth about the importance of agriculture, and gives back to the community in other meaningful ways. The Dwight Kessel Leadership Scholarship application is now available online and applications must be completed and submitted by March 11, 2024, for consideration. For requirements, information, and the application, please visit www.tnvalleyfair.org/scholarships. For questions, please contact foundation@tnvalleyfair.org or 865-215-1474.
