Three NGC Standard Flower Shows
Flower Show 2026 theme: "Summertime in the South"

All exhibitors must enter the fairgrounds through the Kerr Building/Lakeside Gate which opens daily at 8:00am. Exhibitors may park at the door of the Kerr Building for 15 minutes only while loading/unloading. Due to limited parking space Exhibitors are urged to carpool. The Kerr Building closes nightly at 10:00pm.

General Rules
1. All entries must be pre-entered and tagged BEFORE presenting at the entry tables located at the front part of the Kerr Building. Entry closes at 11:00am on the first day of each show. Entry and Removal times are listed with each show. Register online at tnvalleyfair.org or submit your entries in writing on the Exhibitor Entry Form located at the back of this book. The form can be emailed to contests@tnvalleyfair.org, faxed to 865-215-1483, or mailed to the address at the top of the Exhibitor Entry Form. Duplicate forms are permitted.
2. Flower Shows conform to the standards established by National Garden Clubs, Inc. Reference "Handbook for Flower Show, 2017" edition available on NGC website at www.gardenclub.org.
3. Flower Show entry is open to all residents of Tennessee. You DO NOT have to be a garden club or member of a club.
4. Exhibitors must designate their Club/Garden Club on the Exhibitor Entry Form for Club Credit to be recorded.
5. Flower Shows emphasize FRESH plant materials. No artificial plant material permitted in any exhibits.
6. Exhibitors are limited to one (1) entry per lot, with the exception of Class 07 - Roses.
7. Exhibitors are not allowed in the Flower Show area during judging.
8. Class 07 - Roses will be judged by a panel of judges accredited by the American Rose Society. All other lots/sections/classes will be judged by an NGC-approved panel of Flower Show judges using the standard system of awarding (HB pg 5). Decisions of the judges are final, and awards will be withheld if not merited.
9. Premiums will be paid as they appear on the official judging books as recorded by clerks, and not from the ribbons as the ribbons may be misplaced or moved.

Horticulture Rules
1. All plant material must be FRESH and have been grown by the Exhibitor: Annuals - grown for 90 days or from maturing seed or transplant. Houseplants and Perennials - grown for 90 days
2. Plant material must be in its natural state - not altered by the application of oil or shine products that change its appearance. Exhibit may include only foliage and/or flowers naturally growing and still attached to stem.
3. Plants in the Horticulture Division must be identified by the binomial or currently accepted scientific designation (such as genus and specific epithet, or genus and cultivar - list as much information as you can!)
4. Cut plant material should be displayed in a clear glass bottle with no leaves below the water line.
5. If the plant is considered a flowering plant, it should be exhibited as a flowering specimen (with flowers present).
6. Exhibitors are limited to one Entry per Lot (with the exception of Class 07 - Roses) unless the Entry is a different cultivar or species.
7. Classification will be checked during entry, but final determination for conformance is the Judges' responsibility.
8. Plants on the conservation list may be used if grown by the Exhibitor or obtained in a legal manner and so marked. Invasive plant material is prohibited in Horticulture.

Design Rules
1. Plant material used does NOT need to be grown by the Exhibitor.
2. Plant materials used need to be written on the Entry Card (common names acceptable - for example: Rose, Fern), or on index card
3. Designs are to be the work of ONE individual.
4. Exhibitors are limited to one entry per lot.
5. Plant material is required in every exhibit.
6. Fresh plant material should not be treated - dyed, glittered, painted, etc.
7. Potted plants are not allowed in design lots listed.
8. A single flower is not a design.
9. Designs must not exceed 24" side by 24" deep by 36" high.
10. Designs must be stable or fastened securely to a base for the safety of the viewing public.
11. If used in a design, religious symbols must be displayed in a respectful manner.
12. Classification will be checked during entry, but final determination for conformance is the Judges' responsibility.

Botanical Arts Rules
1. Plant material used does NOT need to be grown by the Exhibitor.

Presidents of the clubs who plan to participate in the sweepstakes contests must send a list of their active members to the following address by August 28, 2026:

Ties will be broken by giving the highest award to the club or individual with the highest number of blue ribbons. IMPORTANT: Only one member per family will be eligible for each of the lots for individual sweepstakes.
